History of the Project
The development of these VBA-macros in MS Word environment I began in 2000. Then it was started just with the creation of the simplest form for input Chinese characters using standard Pinyin. Over time in 2001 the Japanese and Korean units were added, and ten years later in 2011 a unit for Vietnamese input was added. It works with Vietnamese texts and ideographs. A unique feature of the proposed macros units is a comfortable and very convenient combination of features for simpliest input (IME) and text-conversion functions (direct and reverse for ideographs and transcription systems). For Chinese unit text conversion functions work with text conversions such as: ideograph-transcription, ideograph-ideograph, transcription-transcription. Chinese IME is supports the phonetic and structural input methods for standard GB2312 charset and for BIG5 charset. In 2012 some features have been added to the input and text conversion functions for entire range of CJK Unifed Ideographs + CJK Unicode ExtA (ab. 28 thousands ideographs). Also in 2012 structural input has been added. It's based on the Cang Jie system for whole range of CJK Unicode ExtB (ab. 42 thousands of rare ideographs). Thus today any user has the opportunity to input nearly 70 thousands ideographs includes in modern Unicode standard. I have planned to add more ranges: for CJK Unicode ExtC and ExtD. And the MAIN goal of my dreams - in 2014 I have added CJK IDS decomposition module in VBA! Japanese unit allows you to enter the Japanese kana and kanji using few methods: Romaji, Hiragana and 4Corner. Japanese text conversion function modules support following conversion types: kanji-kanji, kana-kana, kana-romaji. Korean unit allows you to enter the Hangeul phonemes with a standard keyboard layout and with the Latinized input based on the standard Latin layout and transcription systems. Korean text conversion functions are support following conversion types: Hangeul-Hangeul Jamo, Hanja-Hangeul, transcription-Hangeul and Hangeul-transcription. Vietnamese unit allows for user to enter the Vietnamese text with two methods: VIQR and Telex. Also the simpliest input of Chinese characters (hannom, tyynom) was implemented further in 2011. In the future the main update of this project is planning as addition of new unit that will work in the basis of structural information about the composition-decomposition for each Chinese ideograph character including EztB, ExtC and ExtD. Creation of such a database process was started in 2001. All developments described here will available later as the MS Access tables in my CJKV database which also would be shared on this site. Of course, in comparing with commercial IME, my input methods look some poor with their capabilities, however these VBA-macros I would like recommend first of all for novices who are just starting to learn the Eastern Asia languages. Enjoy this soft!
